Figure review - Ryougi Shiki Garan no Dou

Next up in figures is my most precious one to date. I wanted this figure since it was first announced back in 2008, but I wasn't too much fond of online shopping at that time. But after I got the Saber and I made a paypal account, I decided that I should try and get one. This time, it's Ryougi Shiki from Kara no Kyoukai, the Garan no Dou version by Good Smile Company.

There is a story about the delivery. It was my first international shipment (apart from ArtsNow which was done through my friend), so it was also a bit of an experiment. First I had to find it though. At that time, it was already hopelessly sold out in most of the major online stores. So I looked around the net and I found a small online shop which still had it on stock - getjapanesegoods.com (I looked at the site now and found it is gone).

It looked a bit shady, but I wrote there and they quickly responded, so why not. Also I couldn't think of a bootleg of such a new and complex figure. I bought it and let it fly.

After a few weeks, it started to bug me. There was no further notice from getjapanesegoods since they sent me the 'your item was shipped' email. There should've been a tracking number sent to me for EMS tracking, but nothing like that came. Also nothing from the post office that would tell me that it already arrived. So I wrote a mail to getjapanesegoods asking what's up. They replied the same day, apologized for some mistake and sent me the tracking number. It turned out, that the item was already at my post office for like 7 days. What the hell, why didn't they bring me a notice? So I rushed there the next day and got it. Stupid bad luck I say.

Anyway, back to the fig itself. It's just marvelous. Simple design, but gives the aura of magnificence. Her hair and kimono are sculpted to flow in the wind very realistically.

The details on the belt and the kimono itself are very nicely done. The white flower patterns on the kimono are not always very visible like on the presentation photo, but you can see them with a closer look.

The kimono is a great work, with patterns, folds, nooks and what not. It really looks like she is wearing it.

Her face and hair is also very pretty. Although maybe a bit more girly than one would imagine from Ryougi Shiki.

Next up - Kotobukiya Tohsaka Rin. Notice the pattern of Type-Moon characters. Yeah, that's my goal for now - getting as much as I can from the main Type-Moon heroines. A daring quest I guess.
